I know I’ve been doing a lot of looks inspired by movie/tv characters, but I spend a lot of time in front of screens. I also try to read a lot of books. My second favorite series¹ is Harry Potter. Hermione Granger is a kickass fully fleshed out female character. She truly is the brightest witch of her generation. Her style is generally a little less bright. Her clothes are really the least important thing about her. However, I dig her quintessential schoolgirl prep.
Nothing says preppy like a button down under a stripe jumper². I went with my Old Navy denim under a Gryffindor gold Banana Republic jumper. My Maurice’s timepiece necklace is play on the time turner from Prisoner of Azkaban. Wore her school girl curls pinned back around my face & a natural makeup look. Love!

I wanted to take on the Hogwarts uniform, but I don’t have the exact pieces. I went with my Old Navy striped skater dress worn under a Maurice’s jumper & a plaid scarf. Lots of compliments on the dress.
The Deathly Hallows business cosplay is my favorite. This Maurice’s gray tank & pink cardigan under American Eagle jean jacket with Banana Republic Martin fit pants & Maurice’s tan ankle boots are a perfect blend for business casual. Apparently my ponytail was on point because my daughter said it looked like I’d been trekking around the Forest of Dean.

Speaking of, my next look was also a Deathly Hallows Forest of Dean³ inspired look: Maurice’s paisley peasant blouse & olive skinny cargos with Fair Isle lined Toms boots & Lucky druzy stone to emulate the horcrux locket.
I rounded out the week with a 19 year’s later look. This is something I imagine Hermione would be wearing on her casual Friday or running errands: JLo for Kohls moto blouse/jacket, Maurice’s blouse, skinny cargos, & ankle boots.

The dress is the only thing I probably won’t be wearing again. I really liked the rest of the looks. I keep finding myself drawn most to the casual looks. I used to really be into a more glossy professional look where every detail was perfectly planned. Now I find myself drawn to the things that are just slightly askew. That’s probably why I like Hermione’s look later in the series. They’re always on the move & her style is functional without being drab, even in the darkest times.

¹Blasphemous I know. My favorite series is the Thursday Next series written by Jasper Fforde. It’s like Potter for the literary literate.
²She would call it a jumper.

³Speaking of Dean, have you seen Dean Thomas on How To Get Away With Murder? Damn!
