Let’s be real Valentine’s Day is sort of infuriating. I hate the expectation it puts on couples. I sincerely did not want flowers or chocolate or some candlelit Italian dinner. I did want to see Deadpool, but not because it was Valentine’s Day. Even when I know I don’t need or really want that stuff I was very very slightly disappointed not to get any of it. Not even Deadpool! Which in turn infuriates me, because seriously, it’s unnecessary.
What I do love is courtesy of Ms. Leslie Knope: Galentine’s Day!
My daughter & I had a date Friday night. We went to a local production of 13 & ate a late dinner at Denny’s. Bad Mom Alert: my daughter had never been to Denny’s! She really enjoyed her supreme green breakfast skillet (breakfast food is a must as a first timer) & I really enjoyed a giant bacon avocado cheeseburger. The show was super adorable & she got to see friends she had made over the summer at theater camp.
Wore my appropriately named “Sweetheart” Old Navy jeans, Maurices Tank, Ellen Tracy Blouse, & TOMS wedges. I didn’t manage to get a pic of my hair before putting on my jammies, but it looked too cute not to get one. #gohoosiers
Next stop dancing with my gals & sipping white zin like a basic bitch. The band was great & we had so much fun!
Decided to do a manicure: Crazy For You (Love My Nails), Satin Ribbon, Spitfire, & top coat.
Switched out my tops for Old Navy Tshirt & Teenbell Kimono
Sunday was spent in bed with wine, kettle chips, & American Rose. It was wonderful & only made more so when my husband brought home tacos & we watched The Walking Dead together.
It was a weekend well spent. Galentine’s day is a reminder to myself to not get wrapped up in silly conventions & spend time with who I want, when I want, how I want. Hmm…that sounds a little like Pretty Woman minus the prostitution. Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
