First things first:
Glittery, sparkly, floaty, flirtatious gowns put hearts in my eyes.
And one impeccable tuxedo rocked by a lady.
But what I found even more fashionable is friendship & silliness & confidence & empowerment that sparkled & flowed freely.
Maybe my most favorite celebrity friendship of all time; Michelle & Busy being the realest.
Meryl had a lot to say & to those that think she should keep her political opinions to herself I’ll just throw a little Meryl in your face.
An actor’s only job is to enter the lives of people who are different from us and let you feel what that feels like. And there were many, many, many powerful performances this year that did exactly that, breathtaking, passionate work.
She has the right to say what she wants to say & she has the privilege of a platform for her words to be heard. Inciting kindness & accountability will never go out of style.
All that being said my favorite win, my favorite dresses (yep, dresses), my favorite words, my favorite person of the evening was none other than Tracee Ellis Ross.
This is for all the women, women of color and colorful people, whose stories, ideas thoughts, are not always considered worthy and valid and important, but I want you to know that I see you. We see you. It is an honor to be on this show, Black-ish, to continue expanding
the way we are seen and known, and to show the magic and the beauty and the sameness of a story and stories that are outside of where the industry usually looks.
She’s just so damn happy! It’s contagious!
